Board Commitment

Board Member Expectations:

  1. Attend at least 75% of monthly board meetings
  2. Lead or participate on a committee
  3. Attend at least 50% Signature Fundraising Events
  4. Volunteer at least 50% Giving Events (see attached annual list)
  5. Make a personal financial contribution at a level that is meaningful to you and lend your network and time to assist the organization in raising additional funds
  6. Complete and fulfill the Individual Resource Development Plan
  7. Provide input into the strategic plan and monitor progress towards goals
  8. Approve the annual operating budget and assist the board in carrying out its fiduciary responsibilities by actively reviewing the organization’s annual financial statements and audit report
  9. Ensure the organization maintains compliance with all regulatory bodies
  10. Act in the best interest of the organization and excuse yourself from discussions and votes where there is a conflict of interest
  11. Stay informed, ask questions, and serve as an advocate for the organization’s work publicly

Kyrene Foundation responsibilities to Board Members:

  1. Communicate major organizational updates regularly and immediately inform board members of any critical, urgent, or unexpected issues
  2. Keep board members informed about issues in the sector and offer opportunities for professional development and public engagement as a board member
  3. Ensure board leadership responds in a straightforward fashion to questions board members have related to their legal and fiduciary responsibilities
  4. Provide timely notice of all board meetings, board meeting minutes, and financial statements
