The Kyrene Foundation’s 2020 Winter Wonderland was a great success due to a tremendous outpouring of generosity from our community. To accommodate Covid protocols, The Foundation, in partnership with the Kyrene District, creatively switched gears from the traditional in-person Winter Wonderland event, to a drive-through style, where gift cards and food boxes were provided in a safe and socially distant way. The Foundation’s initial, ambitious $35,000 fundraising goal was exceeded, which allowed for 350 Kyrene families and their 950 children to be served.
A huge thank you to all who donated, shared information, and volunteered. Jody Jackson, from Fox Sports, was instrumental in getting the message out to the community and our Kyrene schools were donation rock stars. Thank you to the top schools: Altadena, Colina, Niños, Manita, Milenio, and Norte, as well all the other schools who contributed. Thank you also to The Midwest Food Bank for extending support to our families by donating food boxes. Finally, an extra special thank you goes out to Sun Valley Church – Tempe, for providing the location and a number of volunteers.
During such turbulent times, the community rose to the occasion, which made it possible for the Kyrene Foundation’s Winter Wonderland to support more families than ever before!
The community has played a vital role in this success. Please accept our sincerest appreciation and gratitude for your support. We look forward to a more traditional Winter Wonderland 2021
